Why we love this wine?
Have you ever tasted a great Amphorae wine-like in ancient times? This excellent red wine Aióra (hammock) consists of a blend of three grape varieties. Those are two famous Greek varieties, Mavrotragano of the Aegean islands (30%), and Xinomavro of Northern Greece (30%). The third variety is Syrah (40%).
As a speciality, this wine remains for more than three months in special clay amphorae from Crete to allow the wine to mature traditionally, without ever having the intervention of the wood of the barriques. Unfiltered. It is an extra fruity wine with a very balanced taste that can also be served cool in the summer.
Food Pairing
All enjoyable Greek meat dishes, including Stifado, Lamb chops and Pastitsio
Vineyard
Clay and gravel soil in a hilly area with altitudes between 250 to 350 meter above sea level. Non irrigated organic vineyard with vines that are almost 30 years old. The low annual yield, which averages 7 tons per hectare, guarantees the intense fruity flavor of the wine.
Tasting
It is highly aromatic, with aromas of sour cherry, cherry jam, berry, plum and butter, while in the background one can sense smoked paprika and fresh-wet soil from the clay jar. The mouth is moderate in volume, with balanced acidity and silky tannins.
